The goal of the Hero Inside Organization is to raise awareness about the problems of heroin in a way that addicts and people affected by the drug can identify with; while also attempting to provide means of help in numerous fashions. The belief behind the Hero Inside philosophy is that quitting heroin starts with the user. Itís on the person to want to quit, and find that hero inside of them, to get off heroin. The Hero Inside Organization aims to hold rallies boasting this philosophy to the users, and people that have been affected by the drug, in a way thatís touching, yet raw, gritty, and inviting, all at the same time. Our goal is to make rehab and quitting the drug look cool; by combining rallies with entertainment, speakers, and demonstrations, in a relaxed, informational setting.
The name ďHero InsideĒ comes from a song written about the drug by local St. Louis Meto East musician Nick Menn. The song has already received a lot of attention from people, claiming it helps them with their addiction. Music is one of the easiest ways to touch people, and bring people together; so the idea behind combining entertainment with the rallies opens up a larger crowd of people willing to attend. The rallies also aim to be more put together than random rallies in local settings currently. Dates for rallies will be picked out months in advance, and promotion for the rallies will be inviting, like an entertainment event, rather than a rally. The goal is to provide as much information and outlets as possible.
Thereís help out there, but itís our belief itís not as accessible to the users, and friends and families of the users, as it can be. We aim to give another place to call and go to for help, other than the police, by having a presence in the community thatís just as recognizable as the drug itself. Through our efforts with the rallies, and in the streets, we want people to see HeroInside.Org as somewhere they know they can go to for help, or call for help, without question, in confidentiality, and without fear of getting judged or in trouble.
Hero Inside.Org is also looking to have a charity/donor program where the proceeds would go to sponsorship for select recipients rehab costs. Rehab can be expensive now, and we donít want that to be a reason why someone doesnít get the treatment they need. Also, other programs will be implemented to help addicts; like buddy programs pairing addicts with ex-addicts that have been through rehab, to coach the addict through rehabilitation, and exercise and nutrition classes for addicts to promote a healthier lifestyle.
Itís our belief that if we team up with the right rehabs, we can funnel people to the right places confidently, and help reach out better than some other organizations, because of the peer-to-peer relation and the idea that weíre trying to make rehab look cool and inviting. Hero Inside is ran by a group of people that donít see users as a problem, but the drug as a problem, weíre here to help people get away from the drug and notice the danger in the drug, by working on themselves. Weíre not the police, and weíre not a big rehab where they have to sign their life away to start getting help, weíre an organization thatís in the streets ran by regular people, doing the best we can to help other regular people.
